In the event of rain on your wedding day, you will have the option to choose between two rain plans. This decision will be made in advance when you complete your questionnaire.
Rain Plan 1
Two hours before the wedding, the barn 1906 staff will assess the weather and decide whether the ceremony should move indoors. If so, our team will transition the ceremony site inside to the reception side and create a seated ceremony site, ensuring everything is beautifully set up in advance.
Rain Plan 2
The second plan is that we hope the rain holds off. With this option, we will not pre-set an indoor ceremony space on the reception side, holding onto the hope of an outdoor ceremony. If rain does arrive, twenty minutes prior to your ceremony, we will nicely re-set up your ceremony decor, and our team will organize your guests for a stand-up ceremony with no seating on the dancefloor.
For weddings with 110 guests or fewer, we set up the ceremony in the north section. If your guest count is over 110, we use the south section (as pictured).
Once the decision is made to move indoors, our team quickly and efficiently transitions the space. We carefully move the tables out of the designated area and arrange chairs in neat rows to create a beautiful and intimate ceremony setting with our moveable arbour as your backdrop.
After you say "I do," your guests will be guided to the bar side of the barn for cocktail hour, as the cocktail shed is not used in inclement weather. While they enjoy drinks and conversation, our team seamlessly resets the reception space—your guests won’t even notice the transition!
With this option, we will not pre-set an indoor ceremony space on the reception side, holding onto the hope of an outdoor ceremony.
However, if rain arrives twenty minutes before your ceremony, we will quickly pivot to ensure a smooth transition. Our team will notify the DJ and other applicable vendors so they have time to adjust, and your guests will be guided inside the main barn to stay dry while we make the switch.
We will carefully collect and repurpose all ceremony decor and florals, then re-set the ceremony on the bar side of the barn. Your standing guests will create a natural aisle for you and your wedding party to walk down, and a small bar table will serve as your signing table.
After you say the first kiss, your guests seamlessly transition into cocktail hour—since they’re already at the bar! No matter what the weather brings, we’ll ensure your day is effortless, beautiful, and stress-free.
Though most couples choose to keep their bar closed before the ceremony, you have the option to open it on a rain day so your guests can enjoy a drink while waiting inside and staying dry. This is another decision you can make in your questionnaire.
Please note, if your wedding day is a rain day, the cocktail barn will not be used. If you had planned to use the champagne wall in the cocktail shed, it can no longer be used due to the weight of the wall while moving it on the wet grass. Instead, designated team members will thoughtfully hand out champagne glass from our bar!
