Our History

Dad and mom, alongside their son and two daughters own and operate Holland Acres Inc., a 500-acre vegetable farm in the Holland Marsh. We are now the proud owners of this historic personalized wedding and events venue - the barn 1906.

We have restored and brought back to life this old bank barn and have put it in productive use as we farm its fertile land. Hosting weddings since 2015 has allowed us to tap into the concept of agri-tourism and sustainable farming. The barn walls have been re-boarded and the floor replaced. Fences have been added as the charm increases. It is our intent to keep the farm as it was more than a hundred years ago when the barn was built in 1906. We are intrigued and proud to say that we are only the second family to ever own this property. The first being the Kirkup family.

The century home, which houses the Bridal Suite, was built in 1878 and has been minimally renovated over the years. The oak, maple and pine flooring in the home has all been harvested from the surrounding homestead forests many years ago. The layout of our historical home has been untouched ans is still the same over 140 years later. It is truly an emergence of a time gone past.

Displayed in the barn are artifacts that we had found in the run down barn when we acquired it. We still occasionally find an old horseshoe in the fields from long ago. We display these antiques as they are rich in heritage and inspire guests to ask a plethora of questions. These treasures ignite conversations that enable guests to connect with the past of Bradford West Gwillimbury.  We have simply restored and brought to life an old piece of history that has a great narrative to tell.

As guests walk down the enchanted laneway of our property, they begin to see a story of a past which is not forgotten. The captivating rural history is steeped in agriculture and now seamlessly intertwined in making memories and dreams of princesses come true - making a wondrous and lasting impression on all of our guests.
